   Umm al Qaiwain

    أم القيوين

CURRENT SERIES

(a)     Since May 2008 private vehicles have had black on reflective white plates, 320×160 mm, with a series letter (only A has been issued so far) and a western number of up to five digits above UAE .   Single line plates are 520×112 mm and have the text between the series letter and the number.   The plates are revalidated by rectangular red on white stickers using western script with the month over a horizontal line over the year.

(b)     Since the early 1990s motorcycle plates have been identical in format to the 1986 series of two line plates but smaller: black on reflective white having three sections with vertical and horizontal dividers; to the left ا.ع.م (“U.A.E.”) is above أم القيوين above U.A.Q;  to the right the Arabic number is above a horizontal divider and the western number.

(c)     Since 2003 taxis and vehicles for hire and reward have had plates the same as the former two line private series but in black on reflective green.

(d)     Since 2003 export plates have been similar to the former two line private series but in white on reflective blue.   Instead of the Arabic number, EXPORT تصدير appears in the upper right part of the plate.

(e)     Royal household plates have a number in red on white followed by the emirate name in white on red with a crescent moon and star, all in Arabic.   Some plates have the western equivalents also.
The Sheik’s official car has white on dark green plates with حكومة أم القيوين و ماحقاتها (“government of Umm Al Qaiwain and its dependencies”) over 1, the U.A.Q. flag and ١.
Government plates are almost identical to the royal household plates but have (“government”) also.

(f)       Since 2003 dealer plates have been similar to the former two line private series but in white on red.   At upper right is تحت التجربة (“on test”) above a serial number in western numerals.

(g)     National Guard plates are white on red, all Arabic, and stencilled:  حرس أم القيوين الوطني (“National Umm al Qaiwain Guards”) is above a number of up to three digits.

For police plates since 2002 see the unified series under United Arab Emirates, paragraph (e).

FORMER SERIES

(p)     From 2003 to May 2008 private plates were black on reflective white, 320×160 mm, and had three sections with vertical and horizontal dividers.   To the left was المتحدة (“Emirates”) above أم القيوين above U.A.Q;  to the right was an Arabic serial number above a horizontal divider and the western number.   The plates were revalidated by rectangular Arabic stickers.
On single line plates, the western number was to the left with the Arabic equivalent to the right.   Between was the same legend as on two line plates and there were no vertical dividers.   In 2004 there was a change to the dies used for the numbers.   Numbers such as 100000 and 999999 existed for those who wished to purchase them.
