FORMER SERIES

(p)     Black on reflective white plates were introduced in 2000 that had the Arabic number above a horizontal divider above the western equivalent.   To the left, and enclosed in a castle-like frame, was عجمان above AJMAN above اּعּم (“U.A.E.”). The single line version of these plates had the western number to the left of the castle-like frame and the Arabic number to the right.   In 2002 an extension for registrations above 99999 was issued with the area enclosed by the castle-like frame in yellow.   Rear plates carried an oblong white on blue sticker with the western licence expiry date.
Taxis and vehicles for hire and reward had similar plates in black on reflective green.   Motorcycles had black on reflective white plates similar to the normal series but measuring 210×113 mm.

(q)      From March 2006 to October 2007 taxis and vehicles for hire and reward had plates similar to the current normal series but in black on reflective green without a series letter.

(r)     Royal household plates had the numbers 1 to 99 in both of the former normal private series.   Plates were also seen in single line format with the castellated area to the left (in both white and yellow versions) and only a western number (such as 9999) to the right.   Some of these plates had the castellated area coloured orange or red.
